From August 28-30, 2007, the US Embassy will sponsor an AMERICAN PAVILION - at MHTE 2007. This is the largest and most eagerly awaited event in the Maldives trade calendar. Participants from over ten countries will display products from a variety of sectors including information technology, telecommunications, hotel supply, food & beverage, construction, water and environmental solutions, renewable energy, waste processing, transportation and more. This show attracts key decision makers and buyers from government, the tourism industry and the private sector
Maldives' idyllic island resorts attracts 600,000 luxury travelers each year. Its 300,000 inhabitants have the highest per capita income in South Asia, and the government has initiated an ambitious program to upgrade infrastructure including airports, waste management, and residential areas. The lack of local manufacturing means that most stapes and other goods must be imported. The technology and experience of American firms can help meet Maldives' present and future needs. The American Pavilion will features U.S. solutions to Maldives’ special demands in consumer products, tourism, information technology, telecommunications, and other sectors.
U.S. Companies and their partners have the opportunity to display products and technology at a prime location in the trade fair. The U.S. Embassy will contribute US$ 500 per participating company to offset the cost of $ 1,200 per 3mx2m stall. This will be on a first-come first-served basis for the first twenty U.S. companies signing up for the American Pavilion and submitting their US$700 share of the stall cost.
