It’s a pleasure to attend this event today on behalf of my government.  I am honored to participate in the closing ceremony of the mentoring program in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.  I also am pleased to help acknowledge the winners of the programming and drama competitions.

Today we celebrate two important themes in academic life: excellence and mentoring.  The programming and drama award winners deserve our respect for their intellectual excellence, while the mentors deserve our admiration for their generosity and dedication. (More)

President Bush Asks Congress to Approve $770 Million More in Food Aid

President Bush has called on Congress to approve an additional $770 million to support food aid and agricultural development programs in fiscal year 2009.

With the administration's release of $200 million worth of emergency food reserves from a special humanitarian trust in April, America would spend a total of nearly $1 billion in new funds to bolster food security in poor nations, Bush said May 1 at the White House. The trust is administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Remarks made by President Bush "In recent weeks, many have expressed concern about the significant increase in global food prices. And I share this concern. In some of the world's poorest nations, rising prices can mean the difference between getting a daily meal and going without food." (More)

Today you will be discussing how “green” practices can be best used to drive business strategy and create competitive advantage.  It is a tremendously important topic, and will continue to be for the rest of our lives.  So we salute your active interest in it and your presence here today. (More)
